16 - Crathes Castle
Nestled in rolling hills less than an hour from Aberdeen, Crathes Castle is a classic Scottish tower house. The walled garden is rightly famous for its amazing displays and contains some of the oldest hedging in Scotland - yew hedges thought to date from 1702!
There are many picturesque walks in the grounds, through woodlands and among specimen trees closer to the castle. A stand of giant Victorian conifers are included in a new tree trail just for kids.
